In the world today there are all too many people who know all too little about economics, what it is, how it is, and most importantly how it affects them. This is the main reason that courses such as this one, Economics 1500, are required or strongly encouraged in an individual’s college career. However even after taking these courses many students still fail to capture the big ideas that will be most beneficial to them in their endeavors to understand how the world’s economy works, and in turn what decisions to make based off of how things are going/ functioning in an economy. I personally believe that the top five things a student should try and retain from an economic coarse are, GPD , Aggregate demand, Comparative advantage, Trade, and the importance of institutions. These five principles can help any individual to become a more informed consumer when regarding any economic news. The first topic I would like to discuss is GDP. GDP is a little tricky to explain, bec ause it is composed of so many components that help to try and measure how well an economy is doing. It is arguably one of our best ways of trying to measure productivity and consumption, but like most other economic systems it has its flaws. GDP takes into account all domestic expenditures (i.e. personal, business, and Government), foreign gains (i.e. money and demand gained from exports), and subtracts the expenses that benefit other countries (what we import). Nicaragua is a Central American country in tropical region. It is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Because of the unique location, Nicaragua is the home for various types of wild animals. Two species I will mention in this paper are Baird’s tapir and jaguarundi.
